ACMI CELEBRATES 35 YEARS OF INNOVATIONS IN THE PACKAGING SECTOR

There is a company in the province of Parma that has been competing on the bottling plant market for thirty-five years. This company is ACMI of Fornovo, founded by Giacomo Magri together with three other partners back in 1984.

The pride of the made in Italy mechanics, or even better made in Parma given the high concentration of system manufacturers for the food and beverage industry that our province boasts, today ACMI has 380 employees, 4 branches abroad with assistance and a spare parts warehouse (Mexico, the UK, Poland and the USA) and a turnover of around one hundred million Euros. Created, as often happens in the best success stories, from the initiative of a handful of friends today, the Parma-based company is one of the most appreciated packaging system manufacturers on the global market by large bottling groups. There is indeed no single brand in Europe, Latin America, the United States, North Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia, from soft drinks to mineral waters and beer to wine, which does not have at least one ACMI signed plant.

“When I started, together with my partners, thirty-five years ago, the world of packaging was very different from what it has become today – says President Giacomo Magri – and I am not referring only to the machines, but also to the relationships with people. Sometimes a handshake with the customer was enough to make sure that the supply would have been successful. Today we have lost that human aspect, of mutual trust and honesty that repaid you for having driven for seven to eight hours to reach the customer’s plant. The advent of multinationals and the managerial management of organizations, if on the one hand was an inevitable step, on the other it distorted the human relationship that existed even when there was talk of business”.

President Magri, now working alongside his son Luca, the managing director, firmly believes in the company he has built by continuing to invest at 360 degrees. “In recent years – says Luca Magri – we have expanded our production capacity to meet increasingly important market demand that has allowed us to double our turnover in the 2015-2018 three-year period. We have therefore opened a branch in Felegara and built a new factory in Rubbiano. Today we can say with the same satisfaction that ACMI is the only European manufacturer able to supply all the machines that make up the end of the line, we are talking about lines at very high speed, and to manage the supply of complete lines as prime contractor. This result was possible thanks to my father’s entrepreneurial vision, but also to the dedication of our employees and to capable and responsible management”.

This is how ACMI presents itself to those who visit the Fornovo headquarters: a family of entrepreneurs in command, cutting-edge technology and a group of people who put passion into their work to produce ever more efficient packaging systems with the least possible environmental impact, bringing Made in Italy around the world.
