Astoria brings on the espresso at Milan Expo’s Eataly: 3 million coffees served in 6 months

Astoria provided their distinctive brand of espresso coffee machines to work in the Eataly restaurants at the 2015 Milan Expo. Keeping in line with the theme for the event: “Feed the Planet, Energy for Life”, the top-of-the-line Plus4You TS was one of the undisputed stars of the international exhibit, contributing to enhancing the image of an authentic Italian espresso, one of the best knows products in the world.  Astoria and the 12 coffee machines they installed at the Eataly refreshment stands obtained some impressive numbers. Each one of the Plus4You machines used 2000kg of coffee over the course of these 6 months, for about 250,000 portions, or a total of about 3 million coffees and cappuccinos served to the public at the Expo.

Once again coffee has been confirmed as one of the most popular beverages in the world, and Astoria Plus4You is proven to be one of the most reliable and well performing coffee machines on the market, definitely up to the task for such a world class event.

“Our machines responded very well to what was required of them, and to the major demand from the general public at the Expo; at the same time they managed to satisfy the workers manning the counters at the refreshment stations, who found our machines to be intuitive and high performing,” explains Commercial Director for Astoria Stefano Stecca. “Our technical assistance “protected” the machines; however as it turned out, no particular assistance other than routine maintenance was required during the course of the 6 month event, and final customers were guaranteed impeccable quality in their cup. The collaboration with Eataly and attending the Expo was a great experience for our company. It allowed us to create exposure for our machines and at the same time stimulate buzz for our brand by association with other important Italian entities of excellence.”

“Astoria Plus4You became an icon of the partnership between quality and sustainability, one of the most important themes at the Expo. The Astoria factory brand’s very own registered trademark “Green Line” technologyis based on the use of separate boilers for each individual brew group and a sophisticated system that memorizes consumption. Special software allows the Plus4You to learn different workload patterns for various times of days and weeks, so it can memorize and adjust its functions accordingly, leading to certified energy savings of up to 47.6% whilst also guaranteeing maximum quality and consistent results in the cup.”

“Our company has always been aware that energy savings and respect for the environment are essential to the development and promotion of the coffee culture. For us coffee is a 360° experience. This is why we have created the “Slow Coffee Experience”, a philosophy that joins in-company production processes with the sensory experience of a coffee tasting, as well as attention to biodiversity and sustainability. As coffee machine producers we must be committed to promoting coffee culture and respect for the planet.”
